Graduate Design Engineer
McAree Engineering is a leading sheet metal fabrication company in Ireland, serving customers in a variety of industries for over 75 years. With significant expansion and investment in hi-tech machinery and facilities, we are seeking a Graduate Design Engineer to join our production team at the Ballinode site in Co. Monaghan.
As a Graduate Design Engineer, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in pricing, ECO management, production support, design, and projects. You will work alongside experienced engineers and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the production team to support the manufacturing process and troubleshoot production issues.
- Develop designs for sheet metal products using 2D and 3D CAD software.
- Create technical drawings and models to support product development and production.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that products are designed and manufactured to meet customer requirements.
- Support pricing activities and participate in cost reduction initiatives.
- Support ECO (Engineering Change Order) management process and participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Participate in design reviews and provide input to improve manufacturability, quality, and cost.
- Support project management activities to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A Level 8 degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Agricultural, or a related field is essential.
- Strong technical ability in both 2D and 3D CAD packages.
- Proficient in reading technical drawings.
- Strong mechanical reasoning and spatial awareness.
- Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and taking initiative.
- Willingness to be involved in hands-on work on the production floor.
- Some work experience in an engineering role, such as an internship or summer work, is preferred.
- Hands-on electrical or mechanical skills are beneficial.
